The design approach for Tastings Restaurant establishes a strong identity for Rochester, and at the same time functions as a realistic concept store that can evolve directly into the prototype for future restaurants in other locations. It focuses on the positive aspects of the location and its surroundings with a fresh, human scale, high quality, modern interpretation of a ‘Machine/Erie Canal’ aesthetic. Site improvements include numerous outdoor spaces and features including a terrace, interpretive plaques, an outdoor fire pit, locally conceived and executed sculpture, and plants and stone embellishing natural environmental character.
