This renovation of two commercial spaces –– SKOK Systems and Cambridge Systematics –– in Cambridge, Massachusetts meets the complex requirements of two software companies. The original wood and brick structure is artfully blended with innovative design solutions, defining discreet zones for diverse activities. A hands-on training room, visible to the visitor, is enclosed by a gracefully curved wall of mahogany trimmed windows that echo those in the historic facade. High-ceilings in the sophisticated audio-visual demonstration rooms provide spaces for exhibiting software. Open plan areas and interior windows are carefully integrated to enable easy communication and collaboration while providing acoustical privacy.
